The FF Meta Font was created because designer Erik Spiekermann found the Helvetica font to be "boring and bland", and he wanted to design a font that was the "complete opposite of Helvetica". So he released this humanist sans-serif typeface family in the year 1991 under the banner of his own FontFont library.
In the initial years of this font, it was used in the international design community. These are the facts that make this typeface different from the Helvetica Font.
